Angelo Piazzini

Angelo Piazzini is a Virtuoso Tuba, Director and Composer from Florence (Italy).

After graduating, he attended various Masterclasses and High Specialization Courses with International soloists and First parts of the most prestigious Symphony Orchestras including: Prof. Guido Corti (International Horn Soloist), Prof. Daniele Morandini (1st Trombone Soloist of “Teatro alla Scala” Philharmonic Orchestra, Milan), Prof. Matteo Caramaschi (1st Euphonium Soloist of the State Police National Band, Rome), Prof. James Gourlay (International Tuba Soloist) and Prof. Alessandro Fossi (International Tuba Soloist).

One of the very few tuba players to pursue a solo career, he has been awarded First prizes and Special mentions in National and International Competitions, including: “Clara Wieck Schumann” International Music Competition, “L’Estro Armonico” International Music Competition, “Daniele Ridolfi” “Versilian Riviera” National Music Competition, “Etruscan Riviera” International Music Competition, “Magliano Sabina” International Music Competition etc.

He has held numerous concerts in famous Concert Halls: Austria, Spain, Croatia, Salzburg, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Vienna, Slovenia, Poland, etc.

He played as Principal Tuba with the following orchestras and ensembles: “Fondazione Teatro Goldoni” Livorno; “Symphony Orchestra of Piacenza”; “Desiderio da Settignano” Symphony Orchestra and Choir, “G.Sarti» Symphony Orchestra, “Giovani Artisti Italiani” Wind Orchestra; “Cam Brass” Ensemble, “Symphony Orchestra of Ravenna”; “Florence Symphonietta”;“L.Cherubini” Symphony Orchestra of Florence; etc.

In the field of the musical and instrumental teaching he has over twenty years of experience teaching Bass Tuba, Trombone and French Horn at various Conservatories, Music Institutes and Private Music Schools, including: “Dante” High Music School, Florence, “F. Petrarca” High Music School, Arezzo; “Cicognini-Rodari” High Music School, Prato, and at the Conservatory of Music “F. Morlacchi”in Perugia. More, at various Private Music Schools including: “G. Bonamici“ School of Music, Pisa, the “S.Strata” Academy of Music, Pisa, “Rodolfo Del Corona” Musical Institute, Livorno, “Orfeo” School of Music, Pisa, etc.

Currently, he is the Executive and Artistic Director, Clinician and Tuba professor at the Academy of Music “Brass Lab Academy Italia” located in Montespertoli (Florence) Italy.

Many of his pupils are studying at the Conservatories and playing professionally in Orchestra.

In addition to giving numerous Seminars, Masterclasses and Workshops at Festivals and Music Institutes, he is the author of over 100 publications in english and in italian, including twenty Didactic Methods for Bass Tuba, four Didactic Methods for Bass Trombone and over 50 revisions, transcriptions and arrangements of famous works for soloist brass instruments (chamber and symphonic music for brass soloists with piano or orchestra version).

His works, already published in Japan (Da Vinci Publishing Edition), in the United States (Mentor Music Publishing), and in Canada (Music for Brass) and (Cherry Classics) are currently in use at various Universities, Music Institutes and Schools of Music around the world.

In Italy, these publications are handled by “Glissato Music Editions”, Lecce, “Edizioni Momenti Music Editions” in Agrigento and by “Sillabe” Publishing House in Livorno.

In October 2018, thanks to a collaboration with Mr. Bernhard Schmidt and the German Company “Werner Chr. Schmidt”, located in Markneukirchen, Germany, he developed the “A. Piazzini” Custom signature model mouthpiece for Tuba: a new “heavy” model available in a “Symphonic” and “Solo” versions.

Furthermore, he is invited by cultural institutions and associations to play in concerts, live performances, and in conferences, to expose regarding his instrument for didactic and educational purposes.
